At The Cross
For thirteen years, as a body of believers, we have observed Good Friday with Tenebrae (a service of shadows). The tradition of Tenebrae has been meaningful, sorrowful, reflective, and memorable to this church body. However, we feel that God is leading us on a new path of reflection and remembrance for this solemn day.
This Good Friday – the day when the veil was torn, when the sky went dark, when Jesus breathed His final words, “It is finished” – Mountain View Church is offering its sanctuary as a place to reflect and commune with God individually, or with your loved ones at the cross.
The purpose of this evening will be to:
TARRY over the days of Jesus suffering…
“For He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross.” – 1 peter 2:24
REFLECT on how His sacrifice impacts your own life…
“So that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” – 1 Peter 2:24
EXAMINE your heart as you approach the foot of the cross…
“Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts.” James 4:8
COMMUNE with God through prayer, and receive the elements of communion…
“While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.” Matt. 26:26-27
Childcare will be provided for young ones from birth to 2 years.
The church sanctuary will be open from 7:00pm until 8:30pm. You may come anytime you like within the time frame and leave as you feel led.
The evening will not be a service format. The only format to the evening is between you and your Savior, Jesus Christ who bore your sins and shed His blood for you.
