What is the Parent Summit Conference? This is a conference that will provide workshops (classes) to parents and guardians that teach about significant milestones in every child’s life. The curriculum provided in the workshops is designed to teach parents how to disciple their children and equip parents down the path of intentional spiritual parenting.

How many workshops (milestones) are there to choose from and how many will we be able to attend? There will be a total of 7 workshops. All 7 workshops will be held in the morning session. The exact same 7 workshops will be held again in the afternoon session. This allows attendees to choose two milestone workshops they would like to attend. Attendees will attend their first milestone workshop in the morning session and they will attend the second milestone workshop in the afternoon session.

What are the workshops (milestones) to choose from?

  • Milestone 1 – Parent & Baby Dedication Ages 0-5: Understanding your role as the primary faith trainer for your children and family.
  • Milestone 2 – Salvation & Baptism Ages 6-9: Leading your child into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Milestone 3 – Preparing for Adolescence Ages 10-12: Preparing your child to embrace their identity in Christ as a teenager.
  • Milestone 4 – Purity for Life Age – Teenagers Ages 13 – 18: Leading your teenager to live a life of biblical purity before and after marriage.
  • Milestone 5 – Rite of Passage- High School Age: Equipping your teenager for biblical manhood or womanhood.
  • Milestone 6 – High School Graduation Ages 18 – 19: Preparing your teenager to follow Christ as they leave home.
  • Milestone 7 – Life in Christ Ages 18 and older: Living as a disciple of Jesus Christ in every stage of adulthood.

 

Example: parents who have children from birth to 5 years old will want to attend the Milestone 1 workshop. Parents who have children graduating high school will want to attend Milestone 6, etc.

How do I enroll in the Milestone Workshops that I would like to attend? There is an area on the registration form where you will select the Milestone Workshops you want to attend.

What Materials are being used? The Legacy Path book written by Brian Haynes. In addition we will provide a workbook that includes materials on all the Milestones. Attendees will want to bring something to write with.

How do I register for the conference? There is a registration table located near the café every Sunday morning from 10:10 – 10:45. You may also register online.

How much does the conference cost? $35.oo – this fee includes workshops, workbook and materials, lunch for up to 2 adults attending the conference, childcare, and children’s program.

Is the fee reduced if one parent attends the conference versus two? No. The $35 fee covers the costs for one parent to attend the conference. The co-parent attends with no additional charge. In an effort to keep the cost of the conference down, we calculated the cost of one parent attending. We are providing a courtesy lunch for the second parent and will provide one set of books and materials for the parents to share. This is why we are not able to reduce the fee for one parent attending the conference. We encourage both parents and/or guardians to attend the conference to learn how to disciple their children together.

Is there childcare available? Yes. There will be limited space for childcare from birth through age 3.

Is there a children’s program for children over the age of 3? Yes. The children’s program is called “Super Saturday” and provides a fun filled day for children between the ages of 4 through the 5th grade.

How do I register my kids for child care and/or Super Saturday? You simply include their information when you complete the registration form to attend the Parent Summit Conference. There is an area on the Parent Summit registration form that allows you to provide your child(ren)’s information along with any notes we may need to know about such as food allergies, etc.  When you check in at the Parent Summit both you and your child will receive a name tag. You will be directed as to where you will take your children.

What is the format of the conference? We will begin registration at 8:30 a.m. where attendees will collect the book and additional materials that will be used throughout that day. Each attendee will want to bring something to write with. The conference will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. We will hear from guest speakers and then break out into the morning workshops. After the morning workshops have been completed we will break for lunch, which is included in the fee for adults attending the conference. Children will need to bring a sack lunch. Age appropriate snacks will be provided to your children throughout the day. After lunch we will break out into our second set of workshops for the afternoon. When the workshops are over we will reconvene for closing words and the conference will dismiss at 2:00 p.m.

Why should I attend this conference? The bible tells us to “fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates”… (Deuteronomy 11:18-20). We here at Mountain View want to partner with parents to do just that. This conference will teach parents how to disciple their children and equip parents down the path of intentional spiritual parenting.
